International Conference - Thinking back and moving forward: Reflections on Gender and leadership in Pakistan

Introduction
This conference aims to bring together academics and key stakeholders who share an interest in gender, international partnerships and research.  The conference will provide a platform to disseminate research findings that have been collected and analysed during the British Academy funded three year research project titled Research Capacity Building through International Partnership for Mapping Women Academics Careers in Pakistan.  The conference will enable early career and experienced researchers to work alongside each other to present their individual or team contributions. The opportunity will also be availed to open the conference to local and international researchers and scholars in gender studies for the purposes of creating a wider dialogue, adding to the field.

  • Long term Goal of the event/project
  • The Conference will endow researchers in Pakistan/UK with repertoires of research knowledge/skills to enable them to participate meaningfully and critically in inquiry led improvement.
  • The conference will highlights careers of women academics in Pakistan seeking views/perceptions underpinned by lived experiences in the specific socio cultural and religious context.
  • The proposed recommendations will facilitate policy planners and lawmakers to devise strategies in order to overcome the issues women in leadership, especially with reference to academia, have to face.

Specific Objective(s)

  • To provide a forum for National and International Scholars and researcher to create and extend a dialogue with respect to women’s access to higher education and their position in the field of Academia.
  • To highlight the enabling and disabling factors, career oriented women in Academia have to face.
  • This conference aims to bring together academics and key stakeholders who share their interest in gender, international partnerships and research. 
  • To enable early career as well as experienced researchers and scholars to work alongside each other to present their individual or team contributions
