Marking Criteria/Grades
Grades shall be allocated to a student according to her overall performance in any course. FJWU’s Grading System is based on “Absolute Grading System”. Grading system for all degree programs from Fall 2018, is given as under:

- The minimum required Cumulative GPA (CGPA) for all disciplines both at Masters and undergraduate level is 2.0.
- The minimum required Cumulative GPA (CGPA) for all disciplines both at MPhil and PhD level is 2.50 and 3.00 respectively.
- Final CGPA of 1.95 shall be rounded off as 2.0 at graduate and undergraduate level.
- Final CGPA of 2.45 shall be rounded off as 2.5 at MPhil, and 2.95 shall be rounded as 3.00 for PhD level.
How to Calculate GPA
- Multiply the number of credit hours by the number of grade points to get the number of quality points for each course.
- Sum of Credit Hour column.
- Sum of Quality points in a semester.
- Divide the quality points by the credit hours to obtain the GPA in a semester.
To calculate the Cumulative GPA, divide the number of total quality points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted.
CGPA Required for the Completion of Degree
The following facilitation has been extended by HEC to the final semester students: If a student secures less than 2.00 CGPA for 16 years degree program and 2.50 CGPA for MS/MPhil level at the end of final semester, she is allowed to get re-admission in one or more courses, in which her Grade is below C, along with the forthcoming semester, provided that she is not debarred under the CGPA improvement regulation and time duration specified for the program.
Criteria for passing a Course
To pass a course, it is mandatory for a student to obtain at least 50% marks in Practical, Projects, Thesis, Assignments, Test and Theory Paper separately/aggregate.
