Fatima Jinnah Women University has a strong interest in setting up a Department of Law, as its unique location and strength makes it an ideal place to launch such a program and to impart quality legal education with advanced curriculum in accordance with the needs of Pakistan in world market.
The Law department especially aims at inculcating in young aspirants a sense of balance and accommodation which is essentially required for upholding and advocating the cause of justice across the entire spectrum of societal as well as professional dispensation. Therefore, the entire educational endeavor is geared towards grooming the students into promising lawyers who are not only well acquainted with the basics of the legal discipline but are also adequately equipped with the latest trends in the field.
From the last few years it has been observed that the legal profession is facing critical challenges in the preparation of new generation of lawyers who could cope with changing needs, waiting for them. In this regard up to date knowledge, new methods, ideas and information is required in the field of legislation. Keeping in view all the needs, FJWU is enthusiastic to produce the young female lawyers who can cope up with the difficult and challenging situations confidently by acquainting them with up to date knowledge and practical skills in the field of law. Department also offers a variety of non-academic activities for students to take part in.
The Department of Law represents an idea, namely the idea of a society governed by the rule of law and not by individuals. It pursues this idea by focusing on the law and on excellence in all divisions of jurisprudence. This idea is also pursued by focusing on jurists and by preparing our young female students to become leaders of their communities where they can promote the law and its principles effectively. Therefore, Department emphasizes not only on theoretical study, but also on clinical study of the practice and procedure developing practical skills based on the principle of Learning by Doing. The basic objective is to provide well trained graduates capable of taking responsibilities at bars and benches, government departments, private sector, international development organizations/agencies and academia.
Currently Department of Law offers 5 years LLB program. The program is structured in such a way that it provides the students with a clear dimension to enter in legal profession.
