FJWU organized one day workshop on "Evidence-based Psychological Interventions for Survivors of Trauma and Abuse"
Partnering workshop- A joint venture of Department of Behavioral Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University in collaboration with Department of Psychology, University of Sargodha.
A one day training workshop on “Evidence-based Psychological Interventions for Survivors of Trauma and Abuse” was held on Feb 22, 2019 at FJWU Campus, Rawalpindi. The workshop is part of Pre-Conference workshop series of the upcoming Conference of the partner department entitled “1st National Conference of Psychology for Sustainable Community: Challenges and Trends (March 19-20, 2019). The rationale for collaborative workshop is to extend knowledge sharing and pooling the resources for maximum benefit of the stakeholders.
The workshop was specifically designed for behavioural analysts, clinical psychologist, counselors, mental health and well-being practitioners and budding researchers. The workshop was delivered by a foreign resource Prof. Dr. Ghazala Rehman, who is British based Chartered Psychologist and licensed clinical psychologist and practitioner. She has extensive clinical assessment and practice experience in National Health Services (NHS), UK and other leading Health Centers. Her current position is Clinical Psychologist at Adult Learning Disability Service- Health and Social Care, The States of Guernsey, Channel Island.
On closing ceremony of the workshop, the workshop organizer, Dr. Aneela Maqsood (HOD Behavioral Sciences Dept.) highlighted that department is extending its efforts to organize training workshops and orientation seminars in applied areas of psychological services. She further elaborated that such workshops act as an assistance tool to keep abreast with latest interventions and developments in the field of mental health delivery. Dr. Najma Malik (partnering organizer, Chairperson, Psychology Dept., University of Sargodha) delivered the vote of thanks to University management and Director ORIC- FJWU (Dr. Shoaib Akhtar) for facilitating the collaboration in executing the international workshop. A large number of research scholars from both universities and clinical psychologists and professionals from Armed Forces of Pakistan attended the workshop. Dr. Sarwat Rasul (Faculty Advisor, Arts & Social Scs.) distributed certificates among workshop participants.
