Brief Histroy: Sociology focuses on the systematic understanding of society, institutions and human social relationships. The fundamental aim of Sociology is to understand how human action and consciousness both shape and are shaped by social structures. Sociology has many sub-sections of study ranging from drastic changes to social stability, from deviance to conformity, from religion to politics, from individual dispositions to collective consciousness. The broad discipline of sociology underscores the soft core of human society in each respective space and time. It is an all-encompassing discipline of studies which addresses paradoxical aspects of interpersonal relations at all levels of diverse human activity. Its scope therefore ranges from temple to palace; from crime to philanthropy; from anarchy to order; from divisive ethnic, communal and sectional groups to the shared beliefs of a common culture; and from social stability to radical change. The quest of sociology is to understand and identify the differences and commonalities of actions and consciousness of social agents who universally remain in a mutually reinforcing relationship with the external environment, both natural and human made.
