RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • My research bridges the areas of religion, politics and identity. I am particularly interested in topics that have implications for contemporary debates about Islam in world politics, religio-political movements, politics of international terrorism and dynamics of religious violence. Major topics include living Islam and everyday life, educational and media landscapes of Pakistan, social and political history of Pakistan, political and Sufi Islam, South Asia,  (particularly Pakistan), state, public policy & governance, patterns of religio-political integration and disintegration at gross roots level and qualitative research methodology
