All Pakistan Women Universities Consortium

Introduction

The All Pakistan Women Universities Consortium (APWUC) is a collaborative effort by Pakistani female Vice Chancellors to create a platform for synergizing their energies towards women's empowerment. The consortium was established on October 13, 2021, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between three women universities: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi; Lahore College of Women University (LCWU), Lahore; and Government College of Women University Sialkot (GCWUS), Sialkot. Today, the consortium boasts membership from 13 women universities across the country.

APWUC is an ideal platform for women's segregated higher education institutions (HEIs) to achieve gender equality through collaborative and collective efforts. It is a significant step towards a great cause that will have long-lasting, progressive, and impactful results in higher education for women. Recognized as a fundamental human right, gender equality is essential for creating a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. The Vice Chancellors with their distinguished profiles have joined hands and pledged to support women in HEIs, designing participatory approaches to make this forum sustainable. APWUC will serve as a forum for sharing best practices, knowledge, and expertise to foster a culture of gender inclusivity and equity in higher education. The consortium is committed to promoting women's leadership and mentoring in academic institutions to achieve sustainable development goals and ensure gender equality.
