Review of Institutional Performance & Enhancement (RIPE) Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi

A comprehensive Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE) was successfully conducted at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) with the active involvement and strategic lead of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.).

The RIPE Evaluation Team was led by Dr. Sajjad Haider, Director QEC, NUML as External Evaluator. Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC and Ms. Sadaf Ahmed, Additional Registrar, FJWU were the Internal Members.

The meeting commenced with a comprehensive presentation by Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC of FJWU, providing an overview of the university’s structure, achievements, and quality assurance practices.

Following the presentation, the external reviewer initiated an in-depth discussion based on the 16 Standards of RIPE, ranging from Governance & Leadership to Continuous Quality Improvement. This process followed the revamped quality assurance mechanism-Precepts, Standards and Guidelines (PSG-2023) by QAA, HEC, and included direct engagement with representatives from all key administrative offices. Each office addressed queries relevant to their functional areas, demonstrating institutional readiness and alignment with quality benchmarks.

The review process followed a 3-step structure:

  • Presentation & Panel Discussion based on RIPE standards
  • On-site Visits to academic departments, science laboratories, and computer labs—providing external members firsthand insight into infrastructure, teaching resources, and academic environment
  • Stakeholder Engagement through interactive meetings with faculty and students to gather feedback on institutional experience and performance

The Evaluation team appreciated the smart approach of QEC in maintaining evidence in readily available soft form—promoting a green culture. They also commended the university's proactive steps in devising a Strategic Plan and establishing SCALE for enhanced student engagement.

The process concluded with a presentation of findings to the Vice Chancellor and a souvenir exchange with the external evaluators.

This comprehensive review not only helps in identifying strengths and areas for improvement, but also reinforces our commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and academic excellence,” said the Director QEC.

The RIPE review is part of a national initiative by HEC aimed at ensuring that higher education institutions maintain high standards of performance, transparency, and service delivery.
