FJWU Organized a Seminar on "Research a Core Ingredient for Sustainable Development"

Rawalpindi - Fatima Jinnah Women University Organized a Seminar on the topic “Research a Core Ingredient for Sustainable Development”. Professor. Dr. Faran Emmanuel was a Guest Speaker. Dr. Emmanuel highlighted the importance of Research. He spoke about the various aspects of research such as ‘how to do a Research’, ‘what is systematic research’, ‘what types of data is included in qualitative and quantitative research’, ‘what are the basic tools needed for research’, ‘why we conduct a research’, ‘how to choose a topic of research’, ‘what are the strengths and limitations of any research project’ and ‘how we do a proper research for development in any sector’. Further he added that research is a very easy thing, all we need to have is just a one good idea to work on it. He emphasized on the importance of having a research culture in the universities to motivate students for quality research. He mentioned that university can provide such platforms to the students where they can go and create learning ground for themselves.

Dr. Katrina A. Ronis, a senior Public Health Professional also accompanied Dr. Faran for the presentation and said that the mix of quantitative and qualitative methods are done to achieve certain research goals and both methods are usually mixed keeping the nature and demand of research query in mind. She suggested to look upon the areas related to environment or society for research as they also have direct impact on people’s life .

The Worthy Vice Chancellor, FJWU, Dr. Saima Hamid concluded the seminar by saying that research is the backbone of every institution and strength of every strong institution is his research faculty and research centers. She encouraged the students to conduct research in their areas of interest and termed this seminar as a great learning experience for the participants.
