Evaluation System
The performance of students shall be evaluated in each course according to the course requirements. Mid- term, home assignments, quizzes, attendance, projects, presentations, viva voce, jury, final exam/final project as well as class participation shall be the means of students evaluation.
Mid Term Exam
The Mid Term Exam shall be conducted during the 9th week of the Semester and shall have a weightage of 20 to 25 %.
Final Term Exam
The Final Term Exam shall be conducted during the 18th & 19th weeks of the semester with a weightage of 35 to 40 % for Masters/Undergraduate and 40 to 50% for M.Phil./PhD. The Final Term exam shall be mandatory, failing which the course shall be graded as ‘F’.
Total weightage of midterm and final term together should not exceed 60% for 16 Years Degree Program and 70% for MPhil/PhD
Practical/Lab Exam
In courses/departments where practical exam constitutes an essential component of the study scheme, three hours of practical shall be equivalent to one hour of theory. The practical examination shall be held according to the schedule prepared by the Department concerned. It is mandatory to pass the practical exam.
Thesis/ Project/Viva Voce
Masters Degree:
Thesis is optional for all Departments except where accreditation and practical work is required for completion of degree. Thesis will be an option for students who obtain a CGPA of 2.5 and above and will be graded as per rules. For departments where thesis is mandatory, CGPA 2.0 will be minimum requirement. However, to complete the degree requirements other students will take 2 courses of 3 credit hours each.
Undergraduate (Computer Sciences, Computer Arts, Fine Arts & Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering)
In order to fulfill the requirements of the degree, a student shall carry out research on a project/thesis of 6 credits after she has passed all the final examinations in the approved courses. The credit hours/grades for the thesis shall be counted towards calculation of CGPA.
Undergraduate Degree (General):
Thesis/Research Project is optional for all departments except where accreditation and practical work is required for completion of degree. The Project/Thesis will be on individual basis. There shall be 03/ 06 credit hours allocated for the Research Project/Thesis which shall be counted towards calculation of CGPA.
Supervisory Committee for Thesis:
PhD Level:
Viva voce shall be conducted in the presence of Departmental Chairperson/Incharge, supervisor, 2 local Examiners, one Internal Examiner, one representative from the Examination Office and QEC. In case the Dean or HOD is the Supervisor, one senior faculty member of the respective department shall be the part of the Viva Voce panel. Evaluation shall be done by the external examiner only.
A PhD dissertation which must be evaluated by at least two PhD experts from technologically academically advanced foreign countries in addition to two local and one internal evaluators.
MPhil Level:
Viva voce shall be conducted in the presence of Departmental Chairperson/Incharge, supervisor, external examiner, representative of Examination Office and two faculty members of the concerned department. Evaluation shall be done by the external examiner only.
Masters Level:
Viva voce shall be conducted in the presence of Departmental Chairperson/In charge, Supervisor, two faculty Members, External Examiner, one FJWU representative (observer). Evaluation shall be done by the external examiner only.
Thesis/Research Project at Undergraduate level:
Viva voce shall be conducted in the presence of the Departmental Chairperson/Incharge, Supervisor, Two faculty Members, External Examiner, one FJWU representative (observer). However, evaluation shall be done by the same board exclusive of FJWU representative.
